American Roulette

American roulette has been once simple and more challenging game than European roulette. It is a version of the traditional French game that has found a place in today’s casinos and gaming outlets across the United States. The Game’s main attraction is the 00 pocket on the roulette wheel, which does not exist in European roulette thus cuts down the players’ chances of winning from 1 in 37 to 1 in 38.

Despite these aspects of American roulette, the stateside version of the game is easier than European renditions. The American roulette wheels are simpler to understand because the adjacent numbers are placed opposite the wheel from one another.

How to Play American Roulette

American roulette is easy to understand and requires little preparation. You need to determine: on which numbers, color or even/odd specification you want to bet!

In this game you have to place chips on the roulette board on which you believe will win out when the croupier spins the roulette wheel. For instance, if you bet that the ball will stop on number 5, you could bet on that number and would, therefore, place a chip on the 5 spots on the roulette board.

Once all the bets by all the players are placed, the croupier will spin the wheel. At a certain point, the croupier will wave a hand over the roulette table to confirm that all bets are final. After this, you need to wait and watch for the ball to stop. Based on where the ball halts player would win or lose. If they predicted the right number, color or even/odd specification of the winning wheel spot they will win or vice versa.

Ways to Bet

You will find two types of bets in roulette – first is inside bets and another one is outside bets. Inside bets are mostly number-specific bets while outside bets pertain to wagers that offer a small payout with high chances of willing like betting by color.

Inside Bets

Being a player you can bet on an actual number designation – like 6 – or a shared space between numbers. You may also put your chip on a line between numbers like between 11 and 15 or on the corner space where four numbers meet like the corner of 11, 12, 14 and 15. Betting on the line between two numbers is called split bet as you are splitting your bet between two options, whereas betting on the corners of four numbers is known as a corner bet or a quad bet.

You can also select more creative options for inside bets. You can go for a basket bet. In this type of bet, the chip is placed in such a way that it straddles 0, 00, and 1, 2 and 3.

Outside Bets

These types of bets are known for a higher chance of success but at lower payouts. You can bet on red or black, even or odd, 1-18 or 19-36 (dozens of bets), or many columns of the board. Dozens and column bets, are 12-number bets that pay 2 to 1 that means you will have a 50 percent chance of winning.

In addition, you can also place bets between inside boxes and outside boxes. This will increase your chances of winning, but it will decrease the amount you’ll win. You may also place bets on the vertical line between the outside and inside betting areas which is called a street bet and it pays 11 to 1.

Betting and Walking

When it comes to the basic rules to know when playing roulette, being a beginner you can be relieved that the game is relatively low-maintenance. If some other player has already placed chips on a spot you’d like to occupy, you can have color-specific chips for this exact purpose. So, you can always bet wherever you’d like, regardless of other players’ chips.

You can easily keep playing and placing your chips on the board after the croupier has spun the wheel. In fact, croupiers keep moving the roulette wheel, making you play instantly. When the ball is about to halt the croupier will single by waving hand that now no more bets can be placed.

When playing live roulette, you can play as many as about 30 spins per hour but playing virtually it can increase to 65 spins. Although the number of spins/bets you play cannot impact on your odds of winning, it can often sway you away from the actual gaming – so try to pace yourself when playing online. It is necessary to focus your mind on the game of roulette as the odds are always against you.
